First time tanning....help?

hi my name is becky....i want to tan for the first time but i dont want to burn because im like really pale...what lotion could i use....and how long do i stay under the tanning bed?......i want to know how long and lotion and what i should where....plus how i can prevent getting sun burn..well lite burn
