I need help with writing a vignette?

For my New Millennium Studies cl, we're reading The House on Mango Street. The story is composed of many different vignettes and our ignment is to write our own vignette about our lives. I'm a little confused about how to do this..so if anyone has any advice or comments, they'd be greatly appreciated!
