Movie editing files question - .MOV?

I have the Pinnacle Studio 12 Plus program, and I was trying to load up some video files I had to edit a movie, but Pinnacle wouldn't recognize them. My computer says they're a Quick Time Movie (.MOV) files, so do I have to change them? How do I do that? Please help me- I really want to use these files!!! Is it the wrong type of file, or is my Pinnacle messed up? HELP!
