What are the speed limits on California highways these days?

Regular freeways (I405, I5, I101 etc) are now up to 70mph but some of the more urban ones are still restricted to 55mph. It's wise to keep an eye out for speed signs because they can vary dropping to 45 mph depending on hazards. There's no hard and fast rule so keep your eyes open. On the 70mph freeways expect traffic to be doing 90mph in the left lanes. Years ago a Santa Clara friend of mine used to say "It's not I101 55mph it's I55 101mph". Yes CA still use reflective bumps thank goodness as opposed to those horrible poles in Nevada. OK they stick out of the snow but at night with no snow it's like driving an old 1980's Atari game.
